Event Feedback: Social Marketing for ICT SMEs - 28/04/2010

For our second joint collaboration with Telford College of Arts and Technology (TCAT), the BCS Shropshire Committee chose a topic relevant not only to ICT students but to local businesses. The aim was to introduce us all to the concept of Social Marketing Tools and Techniques and how it can benefit everyone.

Once again, we had a large turn out with a good mix of local business entrepreneurs and college students. The event kicked off with some networking over refreshments, kindly supplied by TCAT, followed by an event overview by organiser Hollie Whittles from Purple Frog IT. Chris Pallett then said a few words, as deputy chair of BCS Shropshire, to explain what the Chartered Institute for IT does and how it can benefit individuals and businesses.

Hollie Whittles then introduced the event keynote speaker Peter Lisney from internet marketing specialists, Irun Business Intelligence in Telford. Peter talked the group through the importance of social media, the best tools out there such as Twitter / Facebook / LinkedIn, Hints - Tips - Tricks and encouraged group participation with questions and answers as we went along.

The event received some really positive feedback and we all came away with something new to think about.
