Event Feedback: Being Successful in the IT Business - 01/03/2010

The event was hosted by Telford College of Arts and Technology (TCAT) who also provide excellent food and drink refreshments. This event was organised to be of relevance to their foundation degree course as well as BCS members and other IT Professionals.

The event was a tremendous success with about 50 attendees including students from Telford College of Arts and Technology We had 3 speakers with Peter Buchanan getting the event off to a fine start by describing the importance of planning one’s career, seeking opportunities, build the experience and build that CV to get you there. While Peter was speaking more from a corporate perspective, our second speaker Chris Pallet, from Bespoke computing, described the opportunities of starting you own business and taking the entrepreneurial path. This lead us nicely into our final talk by Gareth Emberton, from “The Entrepreneur’s Coach”, who challenged us to create a vision and illustrated dramatically how quickly technology was changing the world…. And therefore the opportunities.

The evening was certainly very thought provoking and a tremendous success as the first joint event between BCS and TCAT.
