BCS Shropshire - AGM 2012 and Securing the supply chain: Information Assurance for small businesses
Date: Wednesday 7th November 2012
Venue: International House, Telford Arrival at 6.00pm for a 6.30pm start.
Cyberspace is an increasingly dangerous place to exchange and store information. To protect their assets and supply chain, purchasers of services and products are introducing policies that regulate their suppliers and partners cyber security and related information assurance issues.
The IASME Consortium Ltd (part of the Malvern Cyber Security Cluster) maintains the information assurance management standard and assessment process for SMEs, based on international best practice. The Standard ensures that an organisation’s cyber security level is independently assessed to a recognised level and that the level is maintained. Any weaknesses are identified in a security improvement plan which guides the organisation and their cyber security support in a continuous improvement cycle.
The Standard covers all aspects of security, including technical, personnel and physical security risk management, and makes security part of day-to-day business. The IASME Standard is particularly applicable to smaller businesses who are required to demonstrate good information security to their clients in the supply chain and is scaled and priced accordingly.
